Customized Honda Chopper
NOTE: ENGINE (only 13500 Miles/22000 km), ELECTRICAL AND FRAME ARE ORIGINAL1996 PARTS) EVERYTHING ELSE IS ONLY 1 YEAR OLD
So why would anyone invest over $25,000 into a 1996 Honda Shadow? Well that is a good question. My father in-law who has been into Harley's for over 40 years had an old 1978 FLH sitting in his store room. He just traded one of his many other bikes for this bike and was going to tear it down the next day and customize it as this is what he did for a hobby. I decided to sit down on it it and low and behold. I fell in love! The next day i looked around for an affordable bike. I came across a used Honda Shadow VT1100 Ace. This bike looked great and only had 20,000 km (12,500 miles). I purchased the bike for $5000 and rode it a few times until my wife handed me a bunch of custom chopper bike magazines (Easyrider, Custom Bike & Dream Machines). Well...lets just say i took the plates off my bike and started a new infectious and expensive hobby.
Before getting carried away i decided to stick with a theme of black and chrome with sharp pointy edges keeping the bike as realistically low as possible but not sacrificing the comfort and annoyance of having to avoid every crevice on the road. Over the next 4 years not only did i order a ton of new parts but i sent my bike out to two chopper companies... Azzkiker in Langley, BC to build a one of a kind bad ass sissy bar and two companies in Mississippi, to have my bike professionally rake out the front end, fabricate and paint parts from drawings i made for the front scoop, fenders & gas tank as well as install a ton of parts i ordered. It took 4 years as it took me time to round up some money, shipping, manufacturing, paint as well as just a lot of delays peppered throughout that time.
Well 2012 was the year when the bike arrived! When it unloaded off the truck it looked spectacular! I was very proud to have turned a regular looking typical Honda Shadow into a one mean looking bad ass bike. There is no other Honda like it. I found that many people thought it was a waste of time trying to convert a Honda into a chopper. I went full out. I did not cheap out on parts. This Bike has never seen a drop of rain and has only been driven for 2 months since it got customized.
Reason for selling: My wife and i just purchased a new house and in need for a bigger deposit to make things easier on us.
This bike is very dependable and has never seen a drop of rain. This bike gets a lot of looks. People cannot tell what bike it is. Usually it is mistaken for a harley as the Honda Shadow Ace to being with was modeled after the Harley-Davidson FXDWG Wide Glide plus you never see a Honda Shadow modified like this. You will not be dissapointed! A lot of money and time went into this project.
